It
is a German tradition to initiate the start of school-life with a celebration before the first day of school. On August 26, Principal Bouterse and our Kindergarten teachers will officially welcome all new Kindergarten students to our school. After a short introduction in the auditorium, Kindergarten families will then be able to visit the Kindergarten classrooms and meet new friends. Refreshments will be served and are provided by the AEA German Cultural Committee. .
Following German tradition, parents usually craft a “Schultüte” (a paper cone) for their incoming Kindergarten child, and fill it with little gifts for the first day of school. (Psst! It is supposed to be a surprise for the children).
Students should bring the Schultüte on the first day of school Monday August 29th. You will have the opportunity to take a class picture on the 29th with your child holding the Schultüte . Parents should then take the Schultüte home with them for their child to open after school.
Looking forward to meeting you and your child in August.
